A man and woman are facing charges after a stolen truck that sped through Lucan was later stopped by an OPP spike belt.
Middlesex OPP were called just after midnight Saturday by Huron OPP to alert them about a stolen pickup that was heading south on Highway 21.
"The truck was later observed travelling through the community of Lucan at speeds estimated almost three times the posted speed limit," police said in a news release issued Tuesday. "At the time police did not engage the suspect vehicle for concerns related to public safety."
The truck was later seen on Ilderton Road. Police tried to pull it over, but the driver sped away on Hyde Park Road. That's when OPP officers laid down a spike belt, which flattened two of the truck's tires.
According to police, the driver of the truck tried to drive across a field, but the truck became stuck in mud. Two arrests were made and police say a quantity of stolen property was recovered.
A 26-year-old London woman and a 27-year-old Thames Centre man face several charges.
