A transit service that would have linked London, Strathroy, and Sarnia has been postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc made the announcement on Wednesday.
"Based upon the advice of Medical Health Officials in the province, and in each of our cities, we are taking every precaution to ensure the health and safety of passengers and employees is safeguarded and protected," the statement said. "As a result, the start date of the intercommunity bus service is postponed indefinitely."
Officials said a new launch date will be announced when it is safe for the service to begin. It had originally been scheduled to start next month. In December, it was announced that Voyago would provide the buses and drivers for the three daily round-trips between London and Sarnia, with stops in Komoka, Mount Brydges, and Strathroy. Provincial funding of $1.5 million had been committed to the project.
