Crash claims life of new father

A man who became a father just six weeks ago, had his life tragically cut short in a single-vehicle crash near Lucan.

The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police announced Monday that Tyler Cooper, 26, of Lucan died in hospital last week from injuries he suffered in the collision on January 10. According to the OPP, Cooper was driving north on Saintsbury Line when his vehicle went off the road and hit a tree. He was rushed to hospital with, according to his obituary, a "catastrophic brain injury." He died on Wednesday, January 15.

He leaves behind his wife, Nicole, and their six-week-old son.

"In keeping with his wishes, Tyler will live on through organ donation," his obituary said. "His gift will save up to eight lives and enhance the lives of up to 75 others through tissue donation. Organ donation is a gift to all; whoever receives Tyler’s heart will have something truly extraordinary."

A funeral service and a celebration of Tyler’s life will be held at the Hensall Arena on Tuesday, January 21 at 11 a.m.
