Police seize guns and cocaine during bust

Three Norfolk County residents are facing drug and weapons charges after thousands of dollars worth of cocaine and guns were seized in a drug bust.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on Friday, officers stopped a vehicle that was travelling on Ireland Road in Simcoe and found a quantity of drugs, weapons, and cash inside.

As a result of the investigation that followed, the Norfolk OPP Street Crime unit executed a search warrant at a home on McDowell Road in Charlotteville where officers seized over $10,000 worth of cocaine and firearms.

Dalton Chanyl, 23, and Hailey Shaw, 21, are now charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking a Schedule 1 substance, possession of a prohibited device, being an occupant in a motor vehicle knowing there is a prohibited weapon, and fail to comply with a probation order.

Chanyl is additionally charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance, careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, possession of property under $5,000 obtained by crime, possession of a firearm with a missing serial number, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

John Woods, 33, has also been charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance.
