Knights in first-place tie with 3-1 win over Guelph

Connor McMichael scored two assists as the London Knights beat the Guelph Storm 3-1 Sunday afternoon at the Sleeman Centre.

The Knights snapped a two-game skid with the win, which gives them 38 points in the OHL Midwest Division, tied with Guelph for first place. London holds the tiebreaker with 18 wins on the season so far, to Guelph's 17.

London had a comfortable two-goal lead on the board just barely past the midway point of the first period. Luke Evangelista started it off with his tenth goal of the season at 7:43. Almost exactly three minutes later, Cole Tymkin doubled the Knights' advantage. London outscored Guelph 11-9 in the opening frame.

Guelph cut the lead in half with the lone goal of the second period. Pavel Gogolev picked up his 16th score of the year, with only 61 seconds gone in the stanza.

Alec Regula scored the insurance winner for the Knights on the power play in the third period, his 11th goal of the season.

Dylan Myskiw stopped all but one of the 19 shots he faced in net for London. Nico Daws had 26 shots in goal for the Storm.

The Knights travel to Kitchener on Tuesday night to take on the Rangers.
