Another tentative agreement has been reached between Western University and its librarians and archivists, avoiding a potential strike.
The University of Western Ontario Faculty Association (UWOFA), which represents the librarians and archivists, has yet to make any details about the new deal public.
“This agreement meets important goals on both sides and respects the essential work of this bargaining unit,” UWOFA President John Ciriello said in a statement.
The new tentative agreement was announced on Monday and comes nearly one week after union members rejected a previous agreement they felt didn't "address the serious erosion of librarian and archivist complement."
A ratification vote will now be held on November 4, while Western's board of governors will vote on the deal on November 21.
“This positive outcome of the collective bargaining process resulted from the hard work of the bargaining teams who approached this process with collegiality and good will,” said Karen Campbell, vice-provost of academic planning, policy and faculty.
The tentative deal was reached just hours before a Tuesday strike deadline.
