Motorcyclist facing charges in 402 hit-and-run

A motorcyclist accused of taking off after a crash that shut down a section of Highway 402 Sunday night is now facing several charges.

Emergency crews were called to the westbound lanes of the highway west of Colonel Talbot Road after a motorcycle and a car collided around 10 p.m. According to Middlesex OPP, first responders were unable to locate the driver of the sports bike upon arrival.

The OPP canine unit and emergency response teams were brought in to help search for the missing driver. The westbound lanes of the 402 between Longwoods Road and Colonel Talbot Road were closed for roughly two hours while police conducted their search.

The driver was found a short time later "away from the original scene of the collision," police said on Monday.

No one was hurt in the collision.

The motorcyclist, who has not been identified, is facing multiple Highway Traffic Act charges, including failure to remain at the scene of a collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
