Man assaulted, robbed after posting car ad on Kijiji

A Woodstock man who was trying to sell his vehicle online ended up being assaulted and robbed by three people posing as potential buyers.

Woodstock police were called to a home on Porter Drive following the attack around 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Investigators determined three people had come to the home to look at a vehicle that had been listed for sale on Kijiji.

As negotiations were taking place, the two men and one woman attacked the man selling the car. He was also threatened with a weapon and robbed before the trio took off in a white Dodge Caravan.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Police are searching for the three suspects.

The first is described as a Caucasian woman, in her late teens, 5'10'' with blonde hair, fair skin, and glasses.

The two male suspects are described as male, black, with skinny builds and afro style hair. One was wearing all black clothing, the other had on a white windbreaker jacket.

The incident has prompted police to remind residents to always be cautious when selling items online and dealing with people they don't know. Sellers are advised to meet with potential buyers in a public place where other people are present.
