Eight trucks taken off the road in police blitz

Eight trucks were taken out of service after officers conducted a blitz on commercial vehicles.

On Wednesday and Thursday, members of the London Police Service Traffic Management Unit along with OPP officers inspected 19 commercial vehicles. Eight of the vehicles were taken off the road because of offences like brake defects, wheel system problems, and unsecured loads.

In total, 32 provincial offence notices were issued, six warnings were given, and three licence plates were seized.

“The London Police Service will continue to work with our enforcement partners to conduct both announced and unannounced inspections of Commercial Motor Vehicles, in an effort to make the City of London and Ontario roadways the safest in the world," said Sergeant Sean Harding, head of the London Police Service Traffic Management Unit said in a news release issued Friday.
