Impaired charge laid in Norfolk rollover

A 21-year-old Norwich Township man is facing impaired driving charges after a single-vehicle rollover southeast of Tillsonburg.

The vehicle was travelling along Front Road in St. Williams when it veered into a ditch and struck a hydro pole shortly after 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The force of the crash snapped the pole in two, Norfolk OPP said.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries. He has since been charged with operation of a vehicle while impaired by drugs or alcohol and failure/refuse to comply with demand.

Front Road between Dancey Side Road and Charlotteville West Quarter Line Road was closed for roughly six hours while police investigated and Hydro One crews repaired the broken pole.
