Pedestrian struck, killed by transport

A collision involving a transport truck has claimed the life of a pedestrian in Woodstock.

The pedestrian was struck by the big rig while walking along Parkinson Road near Beards Lane around 11:50 p.m. on Thursday.

The name and age of the deceased has not been released, as Woodstock police are working to notify next of kin.

The transport driver was not hurt.

Parkinson Road between Springbank Avenue and Beards Lane and Brick Pond Lane between Springbank Avenue and Parkinson Road is closed while police investigate the cause of the crash. It is expected to be reopened late Friday morning.
