One person is dead and three are injured after a head-on collision in Norfolk County Monday afternoon, west of Port Dover.
According to provincial police, the crash happened around 3:19 p.m. on Highway 6 near Port Ryerse Road.
On their Twitter page, OPP called the collision a 'violent' one. Investigation has revealed that a vehicle being driven by a 16-year-old from Norfolk County was travelling westbound on Highway 6 when they collided with a vehicle travelling eastbound on the same roadway.
The eastbound vehicle was being operated by a 67-year-old driver from Norfolk County and was carrying a 67-year-old and 75-year-old passenger, both from British Columbia.
As a result of the collision, 75-year-old Karl Heinz Hacker was pronounced dead at the scene.
The three other people involved were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
"The OPP would like to take this opportunity to thank the Good Samaritans that came to the aid of the injured drivers involved in the collision. They definitely made a difficult situation a little easier for the people involved," said Inspector Joseph Varga, detachment commander of Norfolk County OPP
Highway 6 between Port Ryerse Road and Blueline Road was closed for over six hours while police investigated and cleared the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
