Fire crews were called to Westminster Central Public School on Monday morning after an electrical fire was reported. The school was evacuated and a decision was made to close it for the day. Parents and guardians were asked to come and pick up their children.
No injuries were reported.
The Thames Valley District School Board said the school will be open on Tuesday.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
