No one was hurt, but damage is considered extensive following an early morning house fire in east London.

Fire crews were called to a duplex at 1053 Oxford St. E, near McNay Street around 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday. When firefighters arrived on scene flames were seen shooting out of the front door and windows.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze with much of the damage contained to the front of the home, where charred wood and blackened brick was visible from the street.

A damage estimate has not yet been determined.

The tenants of the two units were not inside when the fire broke out.

Investigators remained on scene late Tuesday morning trying to determine the origin, cause, and circumstance of the fire.

Oxford between McNay and Appel streets was closed while crews worked to douse the flames. It has since been reopened to traffic.
