A man accused of killing a Mississauga man whose remains were found near Port Burwell is now accused of assaulting police officers.
Chad Reu-Waters, 45, is charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer. The charges relate to allegations he assaulted two members of the Ontario Provincial Police Emergency Response Unit during his arrest on Monday, according to Elgin OPP Constable Adam Crewdson.
Reu-Waters faces charges of first degree murder and committing an indignity to a body in connection with the death of Ashley Max Domenic Pereira. The Mississauga man was 33 when he disappeared in 2002. His remains were found in a freezer near a bluff off Lakeshore Line east of Port Burwell on May 6.
Not long after the discovery, Reu-Waters' son, 22-year-old Samuel Waters, was charged with committing an indignity to a body.
