Police investigating hit-and-run

London police are investigating an early morning hit-and-run that briefly shut down a main artery into the downtown.

Two vehicles collided on Wellington Road between Bond Street and Weston Street around 3:15 a.m. on Monday. According to police, a Chevrolet Equinox was travelling northbound in the southbound lanes of Wellington when it crashed head-on with another vehicle. The people inside the Equinox ran from the scene following the collision, police said.

The canine unit was brought in to help search the area for the fleeing individuals. However, police were unable to locate those involved.

No one was hurt in the crash and police continue to investigate.

The section of Wellington Road was closed while the vehicles and debris were removed. The road was reopened before the start of the morning commute.
