Rent dispute leads to pepper spray incident

A tenant and a landlord engaged in a dispute that led to the landlord being pepper-sprayed on Saturday.

The dispute happened at a South end residence in St. Thomas where the landlord allegedly assaulted the tenant over a disagreement over rent owed. According to St. Thomas police, the tenant then responded by pepper-spraying the landlord.

Police have since charged a 55-year-old Woodstock woman with assault and a 31-year-old St. Thomas woman with possession of a prohibited weapon.

Both women were released on future court dates.
