Family of hit and run victim urges driver to come forward

An 18-year-old man has been identified as the cyclist seriously hurt in a hit-and-run in southwest London on Sunday.

Tristan Roby was riding his bike on Exeter Road, near Wonderland Road around 11:10 p.m. when he was struck. The vehicle stopped only for a moment before taking off from the scene. It was found abandoned in a nearby parking lot.

Roby was rushed to hospital where he remains in critical condition. In a Facebook post, Roby's uncle shared a photo of the teen laying in a hospital bed with a neck brace, hooked up to several machines.

"This is my nephew & godson, Tristan. [Wednesday] instead of celebrating his 18th birthday like a normal teenager he is spending it in the Critical Care Unit with severe brain trauma as well as already having undergone surgery to his abdomen & another to fix his broken leg. Surgery to repair a broken jaw is still to come," wrote Tino Casavecchia.

He went on to plead for the driver of the vehicle that hit Roby to come forward.

"I ask all of my Facebook Friends to share this in the hope that someone who was in the car or a witness can see this & realize the consequences. Perhaps even the person who hit him will see this & grow a conscience," Casavecchia wrote.

His post had been shared more than 4,200 times since Tuesday night.

No suspects have been arrested in relation to the incident as of yet, police said on Wednesday.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
