Two people face charges after an investigation into a vehicle-pedestrian collision led police to arrest two people for kidnapping.
Police and EMS crews were called around 6:40 a.m. Sunday after a pedestrian was hit at Wellington Street and Horton Street. A man was taken to hospital, treated for his injuries, and released. As investigators probed the incident, they learned that the victim had been forced into a vehicle in another location in the city.
"The victim fled the vehicle while it was stopped at Wellington Street and Horton Street at which time a female exited the vehicle and pursued him on foot," police said in a media release issued Monday afternoon. "The male driver pursued the victim in the vehicle and struck him. The driver and female fled in the vehicle which was later recovered abandoned in the area of Beechwood Place."
Two suspects were arrested on an unrelated matter on Sunday night.
Kenneth Rowe, 25, and Josafina Maloney, 23, of London are each charged with one count of kidnapping. Rowe faces three additional charges, including assault causing bodily harm.
