Cyclist seriously hurt in hit and run

A cyclist was rushed to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries after a hit and run in southwest London Sunday night.

The unidentified cyclist was hit on Exeter Road, near Wonderland Road around 11:10 p.m. According to London police, two cyclists were going west on Exeter Road approaching Wonderland Road when one of them was hit by a westbound vehicle. The driver of the vehicle stopped briefly, but then left the scene.

"The incident was observed by a number of citizens, one of which followed the vehicle and detained a fleeing passenger," police said in a media release issued Monday afternoon. "The vehicle was located in a nearby parking lot where it was held for expert examination."

The male cyclist is in serious condition.
