A London police officer was hurt while arresting a man wielding a broken beer bottle.
Police were called by a homeowner who found a stranger inside their Waterloo Street residence on Wednesday night. The man had entered the home through an unlocked door.
After he was chased outside, the man picked up a beer bottle, broke it, and swung it at the homeowner "in a threatening manner," police said.
Officers found the man, still armed with the broken bottle, at a home on Waverly Place shortly after the incident on Waterloo Street. He took off which led officers to run after him.
Police used a taser to gain control of the man.
An officer was cut on the hand during the arrest. He was treated and released from hospital.
As police were bringing the man back to London police headquarters, the man kicked out the rear window of the cruiser, causing approximately $500 damage.
A 27-year-old man is now charged with eight offences, including break and enter, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, assault with a weapon, mischief, resisting arrest, possession of a weapon, and possession of a stolen credit card.
He is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charged on Friday.
