Much of southwestern Ontario is now under a heat warning.
Environment Canada issued the warning on Friday for several areas including London-Middlesex, Oxford County, Elgin County, Sarnia-Lambton, and Huron Perth as a hot and humid airmass continues to blanket the region.
Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent have been under a heat warning for more than a week.
Daytime highs in the low 30s, that feel more like the low 40s because of the humidity will continue into Saturday. The national weather agency also stated there would be little relief from the heat overnight Friday into Saturday as temperatures will remain around 20 C.
The heat warning comes a day after the Middlesex London Health Unit issued its second heat alert of the season.
"The risks [from the heat] are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors," Environment Canada noted in its advisory.
A cold front is expected to usher in cooler temperatures and lower humidity later in the day Saturday.
In the meantime, people are being told to limit time outdoors, drink plenty of water, and stay in cool places.
Pet owners are reminded not to leave their furry friends inside parked vehicles.
