Police seize $20K worth of fentanyl

A man and woman are facing drug trafficking charges after police found $20,000 worth of suspected fentanyl inside a vehicle in east London.

Police, including members of the emergency response unit, stopped the vehicle in the area of Oxford Street and Veterans Memorial Parkway around 2 a.m. on Friday. Officers seized 50 grams of what they believe to be the deadly opioid fentanyl, 23 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, several cellphones, a digital scale, and $100 cash.

Two people in the vehicle were arrested without incident.

A 55-year-old London man and a 30-year-old Woodstock woman are charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.

The man is additionally charged with breach of probation.

The pair were scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on Friday.
