Skids and rubber mats were set ablaze in the yard of an industrial site on Henry Street.
The heavy smoke from the industrial fire forced local residents and businesses to close their windows as a precaution on Sunday.

According to the City of Brantford's Twitter, the Ministry of Environment found only a safe level of a contaminant in the plume.
Residents are still being encouraged to keep windows closed and to avoid the area.
There is no word yet on how the fire started.
