Animal cruelty charges laid

Two people face charges after allegations of animal cruelty at a Dorchester-area cattle farm.

The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police arrested two people earlier this month after an investigation at a farm on Catherine Street in Thames Centre.

Mark Marsh, 58, and Rees Marsh, 63, are each charged with four counts of cruelty to animals and four counts of failing to provide suitable/adequate food, water, and care to an animal.

They are to appear in court May 29.

"While animal cruelty investigations are not a core policing duty, the OPP would summon the resources and third-party expertise necessary to investigate and lay charges as appropriate," said Inspector Dean Croker, detachment commander.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Middlesex OPP detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
