Stuck vehicle leads to drug bust

A Tillsonburg man faces charges after a stolen vehicle got stuck in a farmer's field.

Middlesex OPP officers were called around 11:45 p.m. Friday about a suspicious vehicle that was stuck in the mud of a farm field on Harrietsville Drive in Thames Centre. The vehicle had been stolen from Elgin County. Police arrested the driver and searched the vehicle, turning up some drugs and drug paraphernalia. A second person had already left the scene and, despite a search by the OPP's canine unit and emergency response unit, remains at large.

The man who was arrested, a 43-year-old from Tillsonburg, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime and possession of a schedule I substance.

He is to appear in court on June 14.
