A man is charged after a woman was beaten so badly that she is in critical condition in hospital.
London police were called to a hotel on Wellington Road South around 3:55 a.m. on Sunday regarding a disturbance. When they arrived, they found a woman who had been injured in an apparent assault that happened in the hotel room. She was taken to hospital with critical injuries.
A 41-year-old man, who police say was in a long-term relationship with the victim, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
"The man, who cannot be identified to protect the identity of the victim, made a court appearance via video on May 12, 2019, during which he was remanded in custody," police said in a news release issued Monday afternoon.
The man is to appear in court again on Tuesday.
