Cabbie robbed at gunpoint

London police have one man in custody and are searching for another after a taxi driver was robbed.

According to police, the driver picked up two men in the area of King Street and Adelaide Street around 2:15 a.m. Thursday. The men asked to be taken to an address on Cartier Road.

"Once at the address, one man pulled out what appeared to be a handgun, and demanded the driver give him his belongings," police said in a statement issued Thursday afternoon. "One of the men got into the driver seat and reversed the taxi into a parked vehicle, then demanded the taxi driver operate the vehicle again."

Police said the taxi driver was able to call 9-1-1 and leave the line of his cellphone open. Officers were then able to locate the taxi on Hudson Drive. When they did, one of the men tried to run away, but was arrested nearby with the help of the London police Canine Unit. Officers seized a replica handgun and some stolen property.

The taxi driver wasn't hurt.

Police are still looking for a second suspect, who is described as a Caucasian male.
