London's second legal, brick-and-mortar cannabis storefront has been given the green light to open.
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) issued the operator's licence and retail store authorization for J. London at 691 Richmond St., Suite 5 on Tuesday.
The Richmond Row recreational marijuana shop is owned by Ranjit Basra and will operate directly beside former illegal pot dispensary, the London Relief Centre.
An official opening date for J. London has yet to be announced, but an employee of the store indicated it will likely open next week.
The city's first legal cannabis retail outlet, Central Cannabis, opened Monday at 666 Wonderland Rd. A crowd of more than 100 people lined up outside the establishment to be among the first to pass through its doors.
A third legal marijuana storefront is expected to open in London at 1025 Wellington Rd., in the same plaza as Chapters, the Beer Store, and Farm Boy. The outlet will operate under Canadian cannabis retailer Canopy Growth's Tweed brand. While it's application has moved past the public review period, the AGCO has yet to issue it a licence.
