A Middlesex Centre man is facing drug trafficking charges after police seized purple fentanyl during a traffic stop on Sunday.
Officers with the OPP organized crime enforcement bureau and street crime unit stopped a vehicle on Woodhull Road near Westminister Road around 12:30 p.m. An undisclosed amount of the deadly narcotic purple fentanyl was seized.
A 38-year-old man from Middlesex Centre was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl), possession of a Schedule I substance (methamphetamine), resisting a peace officer, and failure to comply with recognizance.
He was scheduled to appear in London court for a bail hearing on Monday.
Purple fentanyl is often a deadly mixture of heroin and fentanyl or carfentanil. Exposure to even a small amount can be fatal. Police are reminding anyone who comes across the drug of the extreme danger it presents.
