A second airline will soon be offering direct flights between London and Montreal.
The London International Airport announced on Tuesday WestJet will begin the non-stop summer service between the two cities on June 24. The flights will be operated by the airline's regional carrier, Encore, until October 15.
“We are very pleased to be able to offer passengers the option to fly to Montreal with WestJet," Airport President and CEO Michael Seabrook said in a statement. “Montreal is one of our largest markets, and with the addition of this non-stop flight our passengers can be in Montreal in a little over an hour.”
The new direct flight will give travellers a choice in airlines as Air Canada also runs a daily year-round flight between London and Montreal. The airline launched that service last summer.
This is the third major flight announcement from the London International Airport so far this year. Last week, Air Canada announced the addition of a seasonal non-stop flight between London and Calgary to begin June 24. While WestJet said in January it would begin offering three new domestic daily flights from London International to Edmonton, Abbotsford, and Halifax through Swoop, WestJet’s discount airline. Service to Edmonton is slated to begin April 28, while the remaining flights will begin on May 24.
