London Airport adds more daily flights to Calgary

As of this summer, travellers will have another option to fly non-stop to Calgary from the London International Airport.

Air Canada will add the daily direct flight from London to Calgary on a seasonal basis, from June 24 until mid-October.

Passengers will fly onboard Air Canada Rouge’s A319 aircraft with a choice of two cabins, Wi-Fi options, and in-flight entertainment streamed to personal devices.

“Today’s announcement is fantastic news for travellers in southwestern Ontario,” Airport CEO Mike Seabrook said in a statement Thursday. “Air Canada continues to demonstrate their commitment to our region and have been steadily increasing the number of destinations that they serve from London. The daily non-stop flights will allow passengers a short flight time to Calgary as well as providing convenient connections to other Western Canada destinations."

Air Canada's new daily flight from London to Calgary puts them in competition with WestJet, which also offers daily service to the Alberta city.

The new Calgary flight is in addition to non-stop service already being provided at the London International Airport to Abbotsford, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax.

"We had a record year for passengers in 2018 and we know there’s considerable growth ahead. We will continue to provide an exceptional passenger experience that encourages more people from southern Ontario to use our airport," said Seabrook.

Earlier this year, the airport announced three new domestic daily flights to Edmonton, Abbotsford, and Halifax through Swoop, WestJet’s discount airline. Service to Edmonton is slated to begin April 28, while the remaining flights will begin on May 24.
