UPDATE: Man hit with arrow a victim of homicide

London police have confirmed that a man who died after being hit by an arrow was a victim of murder.

Brian Peter Maksoud, 46, of London died in hospital Tuesday. According to police, emergency crews were called to a home on Arbour Glen Crescent just before 1 a.m. When they arrived, they found Maksoud suffering from a wound from an arrow. He was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery, but died of his injuries. So far, no arrests have been made.

"Please contact the London Police Service if you have information about this matter, including if you saw or had contact with Brian Maksoud between Sunday, February 3 and early Tuesday, February 5, 2019," police said in a statement issued Wednesday.

Initially, police did not say whether Maksoud's death was a homicide. However, on Wednesday afternoon police announced that, with the help of the coroner, investigators determined that he was murdered. Police have also not said whether the arrow was shot from a cross-bow or a regular bow. Nor have they said if the weapon from which it was fired belonged to Maksoud.

In the past, Maksoud had faced charges related to weapons. In April of 2014, he was among three people arrested in a bust on Oakland Avenue that saw police seize a stolen handgun. According to the London Free Press, at the time of his death, Maksoud was out on bail, facing a charge of aggravated assault. Among his bail conditions was a stipulation that he not possess any weapons.
