The Halifax Hurricanes surged in the fourth quarter to beat the London Lightning Saturday night.
The Hurricanes went on a late-game tear and beat the Lightning 103-101 at the Scotiabank Centre. London finishes one-for-three in this weekend's road trip to eastern Canada and is now 12-15 on the season.
The Lightning put out a sizable lead in the first 12 minutes of play, and the Hurricanes fought back in the second quarter, trailing London 56-51 at halftime. Field goal percentages were even for both sides in the first half, though the Lightning had an edge in triple-pointers. Despite the lead the Lightning held in the third, the game was tight offensively, but Halifax came back, overcame the deficit and outscored London 30-22 in the final quarter.
Garrett Williamson led London with 24 points, including ten free throws made out of 12 attempts. Kevin Ware Jr. picked up a double-double with 20 points and a team-leading ten rebounds. Marvin Phillips scored an additional 18 points off the bench.
Mike Poole scored 26 points for Halifax. Malcolm Duvivier contributed 19 points off the bench, while Terry Thomas and Rhamel Brown each sank 17. Brown also led on defence with 13 boards.
The Lightning next head to Windsor Wednesday night to take on the Express.
