Lightning edge Highlanders 102-100

The London Lightning topped the Cape Breton Highlanders in a narrow 102-100 victory on Friday.

London held a 23-15 advantage at the end of the first quarter and while the Highlanders were able to tie things up twice in the second frame, the Lightning led 46-44 heading into halftime.

The Highlanders took the lead in the third and were ahead 80-73 at the end of the frame.  Cape Breton kept a narrow lead in the final quarter until the final 55 seconds when London tied the game at 98-98. The Lightning fought in the final seconds to score a two-point advantage for the win.

Marcus Capers led London with 21 points and six rebounds, while Maurice Bolden added another 17 points and 10 rebounds.  Anthony Gaines Jr. also put up 15 points and had seven rebounds.

The Lightning are in Halifax on Saturday to battle the Hurricanes at 6 p.m.
