'Hold and secure' lifted at Mother Theresa

A north London Catholic high school was put in "hold and secure" mode Friday because of a police investigation.

London police reported Friday morning that Mother Theresa Catholic Secondary School on Sunningdale Road had been placed under a "hold and secure." Students were kept inside the school as police conducted an investigation, but police said there was no threat to public safety.

The "hold and secure" was lifted just after noon.

According to school officials, the precaution was taken because of an apparent threat in a social media post.

A letter, the text of which can be read below, was sent home with students.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As you may be aware, the school was placed on a temporary Hold and Secure today as a result of a social media post regarding an alleged threat to student safety at our school.

The police were contacted and quickly came to the school. The Hold and Secure was lifted after we were assured that the situation was under control.

As you know, safety is of paramount importance to all of us at Mother Teresa and the London District Catholic School Board. Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s Catholic education.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the school office. I would ask that families refrain from speculation and circulating rumors that may appear online.

Sincerely,

Ana Paul Fernandes Principal
