Man charged in east end car-jacking

A London man is charged after a woman had a knife pulled on her during a car-jacking.

Police say it happened around 3:15 a.m. Thursday at the Husky gas station at 1331 Huron St. According to police, a couple were at the gas station when the man went into the store while the woman waited in the car. Another man then opened the driver's side door and demanded that the woman get out. When she refused, he pulled out a knife and threatened her.

The woman got out of the vehicle and the man got in and drove away. Police were called and, while they made their way to the scene, officers saw the stolen vehicle turn south onto Clarke Road from Huron Street. With officers in pursuit, the stolen vehicle hit a light pole at the corner of Clarke Road and Cheapside Street.

The driver was arrested.

Jeremy Adam Linkiewicz, 36, of London, is charged with armed robbery.

No injuries were reported and police say it's estimated that about $5,000 in damage was done to the vehicle and light pole.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com
