Fake key fob used to steal car from dealership

Police have issued warrants for the arrest of two men after two used car dealerships in London were targeted by thieves.

The London Police Service said on October 13, two men entered a dealership on Dundas Street near Veterans Memorial Parkway and asked about a vehicle on the lot. After looking at the vehicle, the two men said they were no longer interested and returned the vehicle's key fob to an employee. However, staff later discovered that the key fob the men returned did not belong to the vehicle, and the vehicle was later reported stolen from the lot.

A similar incident took place on November 14, when two men entered a dealership near Wharncliffe Road South and Wonderland Road South.  The pair showed interest in two vehicles and then left after returning a fake key fob. The two men also stole car batteries from a storage area before they left the dealership in a light blue two-door Ford Mustang GT.

Police have since identified two suspects through video surveillance from both incidents.  John Jay Anderson, 25, is now charged through a warrant with two counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of driving while disqualified and theft of motor vehicle.

Sanchez Archibald Harding, 26, is also charged with three counts of theft under $5,000.

The men are believed to be in the London area.

Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is asked to contact London police at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
