UPDATE: Grand Bend woman killed in crash near Lucan

A 75-year-old woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash involving a transport truck, north of Lucan.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Richmond Street (Hwy. 4) and Denfield Road after a sedan and tractor trailer collided shortly after 1 p.m. Friday. The sedan had been heading north on Denfield, which ends at a T-intersection controlled by a stop sign at Richmond St.

"The commercial vehicle driver did attempt to swerve and entered the east ditch," said Middlesex OPP Constable Max Gomez.

The woman driving the sedan, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified by the OPP as Sandra Green of Grand Bend.

The truck driver was not hurt.

OPP technical collision investigators are on scene working to determine the cause of the crash.

Richmond Street between McGillivray Drive and Coursey Line is expected to be closed for several hours.
