A nine-year-old boy is safe after going into the frigid waters of the Thames River Monday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the river in the area of Wonderland Road and Riverside Drive around 9 a.m. following reports that a child was in the water.
"Everybody - police, fire and ambulance - was sent, but it ended up that he just walked out of the water on his own," said Constable Amy Phillipo.
The boy had run out of a stopped school purpose vehicle and into the river, up to his ankles.
He did not require medical attention.
