Charge laid in downtown sexual assault

A Windsor man has been charged in connection with a sexual assault in London.

London police said Lovejeet Singh, 22, was arrested on Saturday and charged with one count of sexual assault. The charge stems from an incident in downtown London on Sunday, September 16. A woman reported to police that, around 3 a.m., a man approached her in the area of Richmond Street and Piccadilly Street as she and a friend walked northbound on Richmond.

The woman told police the man touched her inappropriately.

Police released a photo of a suspect a few days after the incident and asked for the public's help in identifying him. Police are now thanking the public for sharing the image.

Singh has been released from custody and is to appear in court on November 22.
