London police seize more than $140K in drugs

A raid by the London Police Service has resulted in a lot of drugs being taken off the streets.

Police executed a warrant Friday on a home on Ashland Ave. in east London. London police's Guns and Drugs Section, Ontario Provincial Police and the RCMP participated in the operation.

Among the items seized by law enforcement are 1,401 grams of cocaine, plus marijuana, cannabis resin, oxycodone, hydromorphone, levamisole, a cutting agent for cocaine; a 2010 Audi automobile and about $5,000 in Canadian cash. Police say the total amount of drugs seized, not counting the car or the currency, is $140,435.

Carlton Stewart, 38, of London, has been charged with one count of possession of a Schedule II substance and three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking. Stewart was due to appear in court Saturday in relation to the charges.

London police say this investigation was made possible by a grant from the Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.

The investigation is ongoing and these charges have yet to be proven in court. Anyone with information on this case should call London police at (519) 661-5670. Anonymous tips can be submitted by phone to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submitted online.
