Two charged after stolen vehicle leads to ground, air search

Two people face charges after an incident that saw the provincial police call in a helicopter and the canine unit.

Middlesex OPP were called Friday after two men went to a business on Dundas St. in Thames Centre in a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Chatham-Kent. Several cruisers were sent to the area and when officers arrived, two men ran into a field at the back of the property. A search involving Middlesex OPP officers, the West Region Emergency Response Team, the OPP canine unit, and a OPP helicopter was launched.

One suspect was arrested at the scene. Richard Jacob Brown, 20, of Chatham is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

A second suspect, a 42-year-old London man, is still at large. Police have obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
