Drivers will want to be on their best behaviour Thursday as police officers from five area forces team up with London police for a one-day traffic enforcement blitz.
Officers from London, Aylmer, Stratford, St. Thomas, Woodstock, and Strathroy-Caradoc will fan out across the city looking for aggressive and distracted drivers, as well as those not wearing their seatbelt.
"Speeding, ignoring traffic lights and stop signs, and driving while focused on your cell phone instead of the road impact the safety of all of us,” said Sgt. Sean Harding, head of the London police Traffic Management Unit. “Please focus on what you’re doing behind the wheel. Commit to eliminating the distractions within your vehicle. Slow down, plan for delays, share the road, and be courteous.”
Last Friday, London police, with the assistance of other area police forces, held a commercial motor vehicle blitz. The initiative saw 18 commercial vehicles inspected with a total of 42 provincial offence notices issues and seven vehicles take off the road
