A shooting in the parking lot of an east end strip club has led to charges against a London man.
Around 3:10 a.m. on Saturday, August 25 police were called to the parking lot of Gold Diggers, a strip club on Dundas St. near Clarke Rd. When officers arrived, they found evidence that shots had been fired. Not long after, a man was found in hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. He had surgery and continues to recover.
"Investigators determined that an altercation between the victim and occupants of a white BMW sedan took place in a nightclub parking lot after the business was closed," police said in a statement issued Friday. "Two males ran from the scene following the shooting and the victim was driven to hospital by a third party. The BMW was later located."
Police now say Dominique Michael Carter Mossel, 26, of London, has been charged by way of a warrant with aggravated assault, reckless discharge of a firearm, occupying a vehicle with a firearm, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence, and possession of a firearm while prohibited. According to police, the firearm used in the shooting has not been recovered. They advise anyone who sees Mossel to not approach him, but rather call police immediately.
This is not Mossel's first brush with the law. In 2013, he pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact, assault, and other charges related to the shooting death of Terrell Johnson. The 21-year-old Johnson was shot to death during a fight on Richmond St. the night of September 30, 2012. Another man, Darrien Hinkson-Harris of Kitchener, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Johnson's death.
