London's fourth homicide victim of the year is being remembered as a devoted son, who loved sports.
In an obituary, William "Bill" MacPherson's family describes how the 60-year-old's love of hockey and outgoing personality help him meet "many people over the course of his life." It stated he played on a hockey and a baseball team and will be sadly missed by his mother, four siblings and several nieces and nephews.
MacPherson's body was found in a ravine near the Thames River in the area of Wortley Rd. and Stanley St. around 7:45pm last Friday. An autopsy determined his death was a homicide.
His family is requesting privacy and ask that only close friends and co-workers from the City of London attend a planned private funeral service next month.
Earlier this week, investigators appealed to the public for information about MacPherson's movements from the morning of August 9 until the discovery of his body. The 60-year-old had last been seen walking westbound on Bathurst St. from Richmond St. just before noon on Thursday. He was wearing blue shorts and a blue shirt at the time.
Police are asking anyone with knowledge of his activities, whereabouts, and who he was with from that time forward to call them at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
