Man Arrested After Drug Fueled Tirade

A 35-year-old St. Thomas man accused of threatening pedestrians, damaging a vehicle, and spitting on a court security officer is facing a trio of charges.

St. Thomas police were called about the bizarre incident around 8:30am Wednesday by a driver who had been yelled at and had their vehicle pounded on by a man on Southwick St. The driver followed the man as he walked along Talbot St. and screamed threats at other pedestrians. The man was also spotted throwing a rock at a car.

Officers arrested the man on St. Catherine St. They believed he was under the influence of an illicit drug at the time.

The man was charged with one count of assault and one count of uttering threats to cause bodily harm.

He was remanded in custody and while being transferred from the courthouse to jail he allegedly spit on a court security officer, according to police. As a result, he is now charged with a second count of assault.
