Man Blackmailed Online Over Naked Photos

Police are issuing a warning to the public after an internet correspondence ended with a woman threatening to spread a man's explicit photos online.

Ontario Provincial Police officers were called late Tuesday afternoon by a man living in Blandford-Blenheim Township who said he had been the victim of extortion.

The man told police that he had met a woman online and during their conversation, she asked him for explicit photographs and videos, which were then sent.  The woman then said she would send the photos to the man's family and social media contacts if he did not send her money.

"Police are urging all computer users to be aware of the dangers of engaging in online web chats where explicit conversations and photographs are shared," said OPP Constable Ed Sanchuk. "Once it's out there, you can't get it back."

No further information about the incident has been released, but police say an investigation is ongoing.
