There was a slight bump in the London-St. Thomas jobless rate in June.
Figures from Statistics Canada show the unemployment rate rose to 5.5% last month, up from 5.3% in May.
The number of people working in the area climbed by 1,200 in June, the federal agency said Friday. The local labour force increased by 1,800, while the number of people collecting unemployment benefits grew by 600.
Nationally, the jobless rate was also up last month to 6%, from 5.8% in May. The rise comes despite the fact the country gained 31,800 jobs, which were mostly part-time positions.
