A police officer in St. Thomas suffered minor injuries when he was hit by a stolen vehicle at a gas station.
The vehicle, which had been reported stolen from London, had just pulled up to the pumps at a Talbot St. gas station when St. Thomas police used two cruisers to block it in around 2:30am Thursday.
As police moved in to arrest the driver, the car accelerated forward, hitting an officer with the front bumper. The officer was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police said they had been trying to track down the stolen vehicle since early Wednesday, when a stolen credit card was used to pay for gas at the same gas station.
A 19-year-old London man is charged with assault with a weapon, dangerous driving, possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, and driving while suspended. The 24-year-old female passenger is charged with using a stolen credit card, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
Both the man and woman were to appear in St. Thomas court Thursday.
